We're Getting Married! Finally!

Welcome to our wedsite. Please know that you are all a beautiful part of our lives and we want everyone to attend. Before making your choice to RSVP know that there is nothing in our lives that is traditional. Our wedding is going to highlight that fact. We are having a backyard outdoor cocktail party with drinks, games, and the finest company in the world. There's a basset hound who will get slobber on you, vegetarian appetizers, a steep gravel driveway, a port-a-potty, plenty of bugs, soft grass, we may even get a rainstorm... it will be a walk in the park. It is our day and we are just happy to have you be a part of it. Having said all of that if you’re not comfortable in all kinds of company and being outside ready to roll with whatever happens, feel free to send a card. That's ok. We completely understand.

We never set out to have a sit down three-course meal with a dry pork chop and terrible salad dressing. We wouldn’t do that to you. We have all been to those weddings. This is not that wedding. There will be no bridal party, no choreographed introduction to all of our friends, no assigned seating... Heck we’re playing an instrumental Smiths song as we walk down the aisle. This is how we are. This is how our wedding is going to be. We hope to see you there, if you can’t make it then we will get together soon in our own way!

With love

~Mike & Emily

When we think about getting married there are a million versions of that story. Our story is as unique as all of them. I am so incredibly in love with this woman. It's something that is so hard to put into words. From a very early point in our relationship I knew that this was going to be something that was going to change my life significantly. Emily is the warmest, gentile, thoughtful, caring, and patient woman that I have ever met. I'm not even sure what I did to deserve such patience and understanding, but I'm sure glad I did it. Sharing my life with Emily is more than a dream come true.

People often ask how we met. We met at a birthday party for one of Emily's high school friends Arthur. A friend of mine, Michael, from my high school days is Arthur's friend. It was a chilly, slightly rainy evening, I was on my way home from a show at Radio Radio and I got a call from Michael asking if I'd like to stop by this fun birthday party. Normally I'd just be a poop and decline to get home and hang out with my cats... I know... but for some reason I decided this could be good for me, get out, meet some new people. I had no idea how far this would take me. Throughout the evening Emily kept catching my eye, of course, with her adorable smile. We chatted a little, I smiled a lot that evening, but I ended up going home that night with just memories of this beautiful woman. I harassed Michael about this sweet lady... Do you know her? What's she up to? Is she in a relationship? Of course he didn't have a whole lot of information, but he promised to find out and let me know if he heard anything. Weeks went by and I asked a few more times, but I didn't want to pester him... well I DID want to pester him, but I didn't want to be annoying about it. I didn't hear anything, and time was ticking... nothing. I was regretting being so shy. Why wasn't I just able to be bold, ask her out, give her my phone number, anything? I'm such a fool! It seemed like a million years went by then he finally said, "We are going to get you two together, that's it.". I was thrilled (It's about time, my gosh) So several MORE weeks went by, and we finally had plans. So I see Emily again, I was so incredibly nervous. I had promised myself that I wasn't going to let this evening go by without asking for her phone number, or giving her mine, SOMETHING. So before we went our separate ways I gave Emily my number and asked her to give me a call sometime. I'm hardly a pushy person and I'm DEFINITELY not an extrovert, so this was a huge step for me. I wasn't going to leave this up to Michael and Arthur any longer... that's for sure. The very next day I received the best text message I have ever received. It was Emily, asking me out on a date. I was so excited I remember laughing with joy and having sore cheeks from smiling so much. We had our first date a few days later. It was incredible and it's been that and more ever since. I've always felt very accepted and comfortable around Emily. I just knew this would be different. It's been the best experience I've ever had, I know that we will have millions of memories to come. I'm so incredibly glad you're sharing this day with us, words hardly express how I feel.
